To celebrate their 10th anniversary,
Vitality wanted to surprise their fans creating a pair of shoes in collaboration with Hummel.
They contacted me to create the video that would reveal them.
So, I had 2 main things to achieve.
First I had to 3D model the shoe using pictures and vector files as a reference.
And secondly I had to make sure to recreate an 8bit environment, and make a transition to a realistic aspect.
But why did I have to create an 8bit retro environment ?
Vitality has developed a small retrogaming style game. This game was part of the project.
People who managed to finish the game could have access to a collector's edition of the shoes.
Having all this information, I was able to start creating.
So here is the behind the scenes.
STEP 1: 3D Modeling the shoe.
The first step was to create the sole, the main base of the model.
I create it in Blender by using a few image references that Vitality provides me (pictures and vector files).
Then I jumped in Clo3D to create the main part of the shoe.
Yes. Clo3D. Sounds crazy eh ?
STEP 2: Animation made in Blender.
STEP 3: Creation of the shoe reveal effect.
I basically shot 2 times the same scene in blender for this reveal.
The first render without any textures on it and the second one with all my textures and materials.
The first render without any textures on it and the second one with all my textures and materials.
Then I create my transition effect in After effects using some mosaic filters and masks.
STEP 4: Premiere pro.
Creating the 8bit effect
